Today Tara welcomes a special guest expert, Suzanne DeMallie. Suzanne is a former Baltimore area teacher, now a speaker, child advocate and author. Research into her own son’s learning difficulties led her to author the Classroom Auditory Learning Issues resolution, adopted by the National PTA in July 2007. She is here today to talk about "Making Public Education a Better Choice."

Tune in to listen to Suzanne's compelling story of how she came about being an advocate for auditory learning in classrooms after doing her own research into her sons auditory issues. How sound enhancement systems can be beneficial for all of the students.

We discuss:
How many of our kids are not hearing everything the teacher is saying even if they do not have any hearing or auditory learning issues.
Where you sit in a room changes to experience in hearing the teacher or speaker significantly.
How when a teacher turns to the chalk board it affects the students.
Sometimes the background sound can be louder than the teacher.
How COVID has impacted students hearing the teacher at home or in the classroom.

Parents and teachers really need to share concerns and ideas for improvements and advocating for change in the public school system. You can make a difference. Sometimes going up against the public school system can be overwhelming, and you may be thinking who is going to listen to me, but you can make change. In her book, "
Can You Hear Me Now? " Suzanne gives you the knowledge and power to speak-up on the public education issues that matter most to you.
