Do you know there is a difference between legal custody, joint custody, and physical custody? Then you will want to tune in today.

As Tara and Anna take a brief hiatus to get ready for the start of Season 5 on April 27th, they wanted all of you to have another opportunity to listen to some fantastic encore episodes.

Our guest expert today is Paul DeJesse, board specialist in family law. He's a partner at Hatcher Law Group, located in Charlotte, NC for over 15 years. Prior to his work in NC, he was partner in a New York-based family law firm for over 10 years. Paul is here today  with Tara  to provide listeners with information to support them in gaining and/or maintaining custody of their children during a separation/divorce.

Since there is some confusion around custody terms, we start by having Paul describe for us the various terms that are used---terms such as “legal custody” “physical custody,” “joint custody,” “shared custody” or “primary custody.”

Tune in to learn more about:

- How  the type of custody impact child support, as well as the income of both parents.

- When determining custody, what factors do judges consider? Are there any “deal breakers” or “red flags” that judges rely on when allocating custody time?

-How a parent’s job (or lack of, such as with a stay-at-home-parent) or work schedule may impact parenting time.

-What a “Child Custody Evaluation” is?  When is this warranted?

-  How  therapists and other mental health clinicians support the work that Paul does?

Paul DeJesse is a board certified specialist in family law, and you can learn more about him by visiting www.hatcherlawgroup.com.
